Will and Katie Boggs started Raising a Voice in January 2015. After getting married in August, they spent the next year on a vision trip around the world, visiting over 150 anti-trafficking organizations and ministries in over 15 different countries. This trip created an opportunity to share Stories from the Field, form lasting connections, and the ability to consult with new and existing nonprofits about our research.
With a home base in Knoxville, Tennessee, Raising a Voice has purchased a building to serve as a center for both local and international purposes. The top floor will be offices and classrooms for a one-year anti-exploitation missionary training program, while the bottom floor serves the East Knoxville community as a coffee shop and community space. Raising a Voice has always had the vision to unite the body of Christ, and this includes efforts both close to home and overseas.
Finally, Raising a Voice has two partners, Vos Tambien and Ubani Trust. Vos Tambien is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, running a safe house for exploited women, and Ubani Trust is in Nairobi, Kenya, with a center for exploited and at-risk girls in the Majengo informal settlement. Program participants will serve in these ministries during their one-year training. Please visit the tabs above for more information on their work.
